Youth Unemployment

Youth unemployment in Palmerston North fell 51% in the three years to June 2004. The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs has a goal of zero youth unemployment by June 2005, trying to get all our young people into jobs or training, and off unemployment benefits. We still have some way to go to achieve this in Palmerston North. I strongly support the “Made it Manawatu” programme facilitated by Vision Manawatu and local Industry Training Providers and will continue to support moves to ensure all our young people have a good future in Palmerston North.
