► Depletion of oil stocks - Alert public, discuss & implement changes.

► Retention of green space - retain existing green space.
► Green Corridors Project - Continue Green Corridors.
► Access to public open space - protect public access.

► Cleanliness of city - keep cleaner - How can people be proud of a dirty place? Apart from the very central part of the CBD the area within a 500m radius of the Square is filthy. Extend the area, which is cleaned on a daily basis, or at least that which is cleaned on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Put lots more rubbish and recycling bins inside the area bounded by the ring road.
► Crime Prevention through design - implement through Environmental Design.
► Balance in services (Environment, Economic) - integrating future planning e.g. Master plan.
► Communication and partnership with community groups - support for Environmental Co-ordinator.
► Changing road usage - Council keeping up with changing use - ensuring standard maintained.
► Resource Recovery :
- Establish a joint committee - Citizen plus Council
- Resource Recovery Park developed
► Street landscaping and traffic calming - more street tree planting.
► Concrete roundabouts - plant roundabouts.
► City entrances - more trees at entrances.
► Different zonings of Square - protect Square from further building -Reserve Status.
► Landscaping of large commercial buildings (on arterial roads) - Amend the District Plan.
► Boy racers - narrower roads around Square.
► Traffic near new Warehouse - manage.
► Use of rainwater - enabling plus encouraging use of rainwater in city.
► Footpath standards (safety for disabled over-hanging trees) - keep clear, clean, safe footpaths
► Safe crossings for all citizens - audible signals, remove mould on footpaths RATS 14.
► Cycle racks - cycle racks outside public buildings.
► Reduce wastewater - drop limits of trade waste, reduce nutrients into river, composting toilets.
► Inner city roading (congestion) reduce waiting times - vehicles or pedestrians off stage.
► Availability of portable stage - advertise.
► Public transport:

► Riverside walkway to Ashhurst - complete walkway.
► Waste minimisation - strategies to reduce waste.
► Walkability of city - any designs to include walkability measures.
► Central location need to exploit more - Council be proactive - long term strategic plan.

► Need another bridge - another road bridge and pedestrian cycle bridge (urgency).
► Public bus service (emissions from buses) - Council to advocate.
► Water recreation - provide Lake.
► Bollards (use of by public) - provide bollards of posters.
► UNESCO International years - celebrate.
► Water play areas for children - make safe.
► Heritage Week - celebrate.
► Access to the river - facilitate access to river.
► Domestic urban fires - ban installation of new fireplaces (open fires) plus phase out existing ones but consider economic issues - cost.
► Residential Street calming (also a means to increasing neighbourliness) - more speed humps.
► Noise issues - reduce the stand down period before action taken.
► Greening Strategy - approve.
► Keep natural (amenities natural) - e.g. walkways - maintain natural appearance.
► River as feature of City - incorporate river in planning of city.
► Vehicle traffic flow - more roundabouts and less lights.
► Fireworks night (real length of, and noise pollution) - stricter limit on sale period or organised displays only.
► Recycling - colour coded bins in public places, appropriate kerbside recycling, education of children.
► City boundaries - extend boundaries where appropriate, e.g. Longburn - amalgamate?
► Environmental (e.g. energy) conference, events - promote such conferencing - centre of excellence.
► Cleanliness of CBD footpaths (under-veranda lighting) - address under-veranda lighting issue (no-man’s land - responsibility not clear).
► Birth control for possums and drakes/Weed extraction - need a strategy.
► Zero waste (National Protocol and Energy Efficiency Protocol) - sign up to strategy.
► Graffiti - a positive clean up of graffiti, i.e. working with public.
