► Sheltered gathering points in the community (wind and rain) - protection, to encourage socialising and meeting points, e.g. The Square.
► Make health of residents a core concern of the city, working in concert with health services and others to foster good health through disease preventative measures such as:
- providing facilities which encourage walking and cycling as well as other physical activities as parts of everyday life;
- ensuring all housing meets adequate standards of insulation;
- support efforts to encourage and assist residents to participate in local community and city groups and events (given the vital role this plays in maintaining good health).
► Child advocate.
► Concern about youth drinking - enforce bylaws, prevent problems.
► Staffing provision (Community Development) in-house, working alongside groups.
► Financial support for Airforce and Community Cadets.
► Need ongoing dialogue.
► City Pride - historical and heritage. Archives receive better historical recognition by Council. Encourage pride (graffiti).
► Debris Audits by PNCC - Pride, citizens keep own property and streets clean.
► Square has been redeveloped over and over.
► To be proud must look after disadvantaged. Council support for groups who do this (the elderly, young and disability).
► Housing for these groups (disabled, older people).
► Green space inner city.
► Support for this process of democracy.
► Better information for visually impaired, including what is on in Palmerston North.
► Councillors face citizens in Council Chamber.

► Communication - Council needs to respond to community letters/email/etc. Look for other ways to communicate - Access radio.
► Age Concern - free buses for older folk/free parking.
► RSA Youth Council appreciates cenotaph v parade and square (don’t react to (youth) lowest Denominator).
