Where did the month go?
Thursday, 4 August 2005
Council went into recess for the month of July, which meant that while there were events and functions, there were no formal council meetings during that time. I took the opportunity to sort through the myriad papers which have accumulated over the last six months and have been putting in long hours at work, catching up and forward planning for when the council workload gets back into full swing. After two years break from my Massey studies, I decided to bite the bullet and take one paper this semester (keeping fingers crossed that it won’t be like it was last time, when I had to pull out and lose my fees, due to lack of available time). At the end of June, a month off from meetings seemed a good length of time. Now we are into August I am asking myself, did I blink and time disappeared?
The garden is starting to look spring-like and buds are appearing everywhere. With the sunshine we are experiencing at the moment, I think we can be forgiven for thinking spring is just around the corner and good weather cannot be too far away. We are fast approaching the end of the first year of this new council. Let’s hope that the break and the promise of spring to come has put councillors into a more positive frame of mind. I am hopeful that we can finally get our act together and start pulling together in the same direction, as a team. The city deserves nothing less.
Till next time, Lynne
