Travel, Study, Engage And Contribute

PNCC Press Release - Jaycee Trust

An overseas trip, a chance to study and an opportunity to give something back to the community through their profession, trade or calling.

That’s what a Travelling Fellowship scheme administered by the City Council is offering New Zealand citizens under the age of 40 and who live in Palmerston North or the Manawatu.

Applications for the Jaycee Trust Travelling Fellowship Scheme are now open and people have until Wednesday, August 8, to respond.

Committee Administrator, Nicole Gardiner, who’s looking after the scheme for the City Council, says it’s intended for people wanting to travel beyond New Zealand to approved designated places and who wish to participate in an appropriately approved study programme or engage in special projects.

The scheme requests that, on their return, they apply the programme or project to their trade, industry, profession, business or calling back in their home community.

It also aims to provide young people with avenues of participation where qualities of leadership can be developed and furnish practical opportunities to advance the ideals of fellowship and tolerance on a local, national and international basis.

The maximum funding granted for a project will be up to $10,000 (including GST). Money has been transferred from the Jaycee Trust to the City Council to administer.

Application forms are available from the City Council’s Customer Service Centre or, for further information, please contact Nicole Gardiner on 06-356-8199 ex 7601 or email Nicole.gardiner@pncc.govt.nz. Alternatively people can refer to the Council funding section on the website www.pncc.govt.nz
