You can subscribe to a.k.a Elpie and keep up to date with the latest news and tutorials. We provide three methods for you to use.
What is a News Feed?
RSS stands for “Really Simply Syndication”; and allows for distribution of content through a special format that allows content to be read without the need to visit the site. This format “feeds” the content to applications that then output it for you to view. RSS feeds are sometimes called, “news feeds”, “channels”, “web feeds” and “site syndication”. These terms all refer to the same thing. The applications used for reading them are called “Feed Readers”, “RSS Readers” and sometimes, “Aggregators”. Some are web-based applications while others are programs you can download and install on your desktop.
Web sites that invite you to “subscribe to feed” or to “syndicate my content” are offering news feeds for you to subscribe to using a feed reader. The content may be either full articles or summaries. This site offers full feeds which means that you can receive the entire content of a new tutorial or our news without the inconvenience of having to check back here each day.
How do I subscribe to a News or RSS Feed?
To subscribe to a feed you first need to decide on which feed reader you will use. There are many available so you need to search for feed readers and decide which one suits you best. For most sites, all you need to do then is to either copy and paste the feed URL into your reader, or click on an RSS link or icon to initiate the subscription process. Your reader will then check for updated content on a regular basis and deliver it to you. Some web sites also offer news feeds through an email subscription.
Email Subscription
If you prefer to receive email updates of new content you can do so through an email subscription. We provide this service through a third party called Feedburner. Email subscriptions are ideal for people who don't wish to use feed readers or who find email a better way to receive new information. Subscribing is easy - just enter your preferred email address into the box below and follow the instructions. You will receive a new email on any day where new content has been posted. We do not publish new content more than once a day.
All content provided by a.k.a Elpie is subject to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Before you give your email address to any third party you should read their privacy statements. You can read the Google Feedburner privacy statement here.
Live Bookmarks
Live Bookmarks are a special feature in the Firefox browser. These are actually RSS feeds and you can identify sites that support live bookmarks by the small, orange RSS icon in the address bar of the browser. Live bookmarks do not show the entire feed, instead, they provide users with the title links of new content. To add the a.k.a Elpie live bookmark simply click on the RSS icon and save to your bookmarks in the same way you would save any bookmark in Firefox. Firefox then keeps your live bookmarks updated and you can quickly identify new content from the dropdown list. To view the articles you just click on the title link in the bookmark and Firefox takes you right to that page.
Available Feeds
We provide a news feed for all new content or alternatively you can subscribe only to those topic areas you are interested in.
