If you haven't already heard of WordPress and you are interested in using a web log for quick and easy publishing to the Web, then I suggest you check it out.
WordPress is the successor to the b2\cafelog web logging/journal application which died off some time ago. While a good content management system (such as Mambo Open Source) beats web logging applications hands down for extensibility and features, not everyone wants or needs a full-featured application. I used b2 for awhile and really liked it. I've also tried out the earlier versions of WordPress and like what I see. The software has a few issues and is far from perfect, but it is free and open source and development seems active.
Like all software, you should always chose the tool that suits your purposes best and for a simple web log, WordPress is hard to beat.
