Working with mosimage in Mambo

Here is a brief tutorial on how to work with mosimage in Mambo open source.

Upload images to your Mambo web site.

  • From the ADMIN PANEL, click SITE >> MEDIA MANAGER.
  • Uploaded images go in the images/stories/ folder by default. However, if you wish to, you can create your own images sudirectory. In the Create Directory input box, type the name of the folder/directory of your choice and click on the Create icon found in the Media Manager Toolbar.
  • Using the Directory Combo Box/Dropdown Box, Select the folder/directory that you just created. Click the Browse Button and locate the image to be uploaded.
  • Once you have selected the image, click on the UPLOAD Icon found in the Media Manager Toolbar.

The image will now be on your server and available for use in content items.

Using mosimage

  • Create or edit a content item.
  • Create the "placeholder" for the image by using
    {mosimage}
    which calls the mosimage mambot.
    You can either type
    {mosimage}
    or use the icon that displays next to the editor window - this is a small Mambo asterisk with the letter "I" on top.

Selecting the Image

  • In the IMAGE TAB >> MOSImage Control >> select the folder/directory in which your image resides.
    The list of images will be shown in the images list box. Select the image you have just uploaded and click on the ADD button.
  • Edit the image parameters:
    • SOURCE: The source of the image file. NOTE: Do not edit this part.
    • IMAGES ALIGN: This is how you want your image be aligned. CENTER, LEFT or RIGHT.
    • ALT TEXT: The text shown when the image is mouse hovered.
    • BORDER: Set the image border. e.g. 1, 2, 3 etc....
    • CAPTION: The caption text of the image.
    • CAPTION POSITION: Were you want the image caption be displayed. e.g. bottom, top.
    • WIDTH: This is the width of the caption text (length)
    • APPLY BUTTON: Click Apply button every time you have edited the image attribute

NOTE: Mambo arranges images in TOP to BOTTOM order. This means that the image you select first will be applied to the first instance of mosimage, the image you select second will be applied to the second instance of mosimage, etc.

Finally, save the content by clicking the SAVE icon found in the CONTENT ITEM Toolbar.
